Corrosion / Aging Monitor

Long-Mission Corrosion + Material Aging Monitor

The Long-Mission Corrosion and Material Aging Monitor is a 5 kg diagnostic assembly that tracks physical degradation in lunar structures using fifty embedded corrosion coupons and a hardness tester probe. Operating at a continuous power draw of 2 W, the instrument periodically samples coupons to measure thickness loss and material hardness in compliance with ECSS-Q-ST-70-04C standards. Designed to support long-mission aging characterization across century-scale lunar deployments, the unit provides authenticated data archival, possesses a 100-year operational lifetime, and maintains a mean time between failures of 1,000,000 hours.
