Data Acquisition System

Multi-Channel DAQ for All SSM Sensors

The multi-channel data acquisition system is a 3-kilogram electronics package that collects and time-synchronizes data across 300 sensor channels, drawing 10 watts of power. It digitizes inputs at sample rates from 1 hertz to 30 kilohertz, writing to a magnetoresistive random-access memory buffer to maintain data continuity during communication outages. On the lunar surface, the absence of a magnetosphere exposes electronics to continuous radiation, threatening long-term semiconductor reliability. To sustain a 25-year operating lifespan and a 200,000-hour mean time between failures, the hardware utilizes radiation-hardened analog-to-digital converters alongside authenticated configuration controls.
