Impact Detection Processor

Multi-Sensor Impact Detection + Triage Software

The Impact Detection Processor is a multi-sensor fusion software package hosted on radiation-hardened NOR flash that detects, localizes, and triages micrometeoroid and orbital debris impacts. Operating at a 100 Hz update rate with a 2 W power requirement, the system fuses acoustic, pressure, and acceleration telemetry to triangulate strike locations, classify damage into small, medium, or large severity tiers, and automatically initiate alerts, compartment isolation, or repair scheduling. Built with a 500,000-hour mean time between failures, it operates across a 100-year design lifetime to generate empirical impact archives that inform future structural shielding design.
