Temporary Waste Storage

Buffer Bins for Pre-Processing Waste Accumulation

Buffer bins for pre-processing waste accumulation are sealed, unpowered containers that hold segregated refuse for approximately seven days between collection and downstream processing. Fabricated from 316L stainless steel shells with polypropylene liners, the twelve-bin assembly provides 50 liters of capacity per unit at a total mass of 30 kilograms. Lunar operations require containment against vacuum exposure and ambient dust ingress, which each unit achieves using EPDM-free, vacuum-rated lid seals that isolate internal odors and particulates. These modular, zero-watt bins maintain per-category waste segregation and integrate mechanical interfaces for robotic pickup.
