Airlock Control System

Automated Airlock Sequencing and Safety Interlock

The airlock control system is an automated sequencing and safety interlock assembly comprising radiation-hardened programmable logic controllers, pressure sensors, position limit switches, and safety-rated relay logic. It manages cycling sequences by preventing simultaneous dual-door opening, verifying pressure equalization, and aborting cycles if seal checks fail. Lunar operations require autonomous cycling for unsupervised robotic transit, alongside integrated dust sensors that trigger cleaning cycles prior to door opening. To ensure containment during power loss, the system defaults to a locked-closed fail-safe state while supporting emergency overrides with safety warnings.
