Seismic Data Processor

Real-Time Seismic Event Detection + Localization

The Seismic Data Processor is a software subsystem stored on radiation-hardened NOR flash that continuously detects, classifies, and localizes lunar seismic events in real time. Operating within the Lunar Ark system, it applies STA/LTA trigger algorithms, picks P-wave and S-wave arrivals, and triangulates source origins for shallow, deep, thermal, and impact moonquakes. To survive continuous operation in the lunar environment without magnetospheric radiation shielding, the processor executes on radiation-tolerant architecture rated for a 100-year lifetime and a 500,000-hour mean time between failures. It consumes 1 watt of power while autonomously processing approximately 1,000 seismic events per year.
