Gripper Tools

Standardised Gripper Tool Family

The standardised gripper tool family is a modular suite of four robotic end-effectors comprising parallel, three-finger, vacuum, and electromagnetic variants designed for surface manipulation tasks. Built with an aluminum frame, stainless steel contact surfaces, and a brushless direct current actuator, each 3 kg unit consumes 10 W of power. The ambient lunar vacuum limits the efficacy of suction-based gripping, shifting primary manipulation of containers, irregular geometries, and ferrous objects to mechanical and magnetic configurations. Integrated for automated robotic tool changes, this modular tool inventory achieves a 20,000-hour mean time between failures and a 15-year operational lifetime.
