Robotic Joint Modules

Standardised Joint Modules with Integrated Drive + Encoder

Robotic joint modules are standardized actuators that integrate a brushless DC motor, an optical encoder, and a harmonic-drive reducer into a single sealed unit for lunar manipulators. Weighing 5 kg and drawing 20 W of power, each module provides between 5 and 100 Nm of torque across five standardized joint types. To endure abrasive lunar dust, the internal gearboxes are fully sealed, achieving a 15-year service lifetime and a 10,000-hour mean time between failures. Standardized mechanical and electrical interfaces equipped with robotic-mate hardware allow rapid swapping as field-replaceable units during base maintenance.
