Robot Charging Station

Inductive Robot Charging Station

The inductive robot charging station is an 80-kilogram multi-dock installation that transfers 5 kilowatts of power wirelessly across eight standardized docking positions to recharge robot fleet batteries. Highly abrasive lunar regolith rapidly fouls exposed electromechanical connectors, making physical contact-based interfaces prone to degradation and failure. By enclosing inductive coils and ferrite cores within sealed aluminum housings, the station eliminates physical contacts to prevent dust contamination. The hardware integrates direct communication channels to verify battery health during parallel servicing operations, supporting a design lifetime of 20 years and a mean time between failures of 50,000 hours.
