Single-Event Effect Counter

Hardware SEU/SEL Counter Network

The Hardware SEU/SEL Counter Network is a monitoring system that aggregates single-event upset logs from error-detection-and-correction registers and latch-up triggers from current limiters across radiation-tolerant electronics. Operating across 100 counters at a 1 Hz update rate with a 1 W power draw, the system tracks real-time radiation fault rates. Without a global magnetosphere to deflect space radiation, lunar installations face sudden, intense solar particle events. By detecting abrupt increases in fault frequency, the network provides early warning of these particle events, allowing critical systems to initiate protective safe-mode procedures over an operational lifetime of 100 years.
