The Solar Panel Dust Mitigation Interface is a photovoltaic protection system that uses transparent indium tin oxide electrodes embedded on borosilicate cover glass to generate traveling electrodynamic fields, repelling regolith particles to maintain power output efficiency. On the lunar surface, dust mitigation is complicated by the sharp particle morphology and electrostatic charging of regolith, which render it highly adhesive. Electrodynamic repulsion effectiveness decreases against particles under 5 microns. To limit parasitic load, the interface operates on an adaptive, low-duty cycle triggered by accumulation rate monitors, keeping activation power well below the solar array's recovered output.
