Solar cell string-level power conditioning electronics are power converters that transform raw, variable-voltage output from solar cell strings into a regulated bus voltage with maximum power extraction. On the lunar surface, these exposed electronics must operate across severe temperature extremes ranging from -173 °C to +127 °C and survive recurring 336-hour dark periods without damage. The hardware incorporates radiation-hardened controller ICs, gallium nitride transistors, and blocking diodes to tolerate ambient radiation and prevent nighttime reverse currents, while adaptive maximum power point tracking algorithms adjust for gradual solar cell degradation over decades.
