Distributed PT1000 RTDs for Thermal Anomaly Detection

Power equipment temperature monitoring uses an array of 50 radiation-tolerant PT1000 resistance temperature detectors and radiation-hardened analog-to-digital converters to track thermal conditions across power converters, contactors, and bus bars. Drawing 5 W of power with a mass of 2 kg, the distributed sensor network detects localized hot spots and executes autonomous thermal trip commands to protect electrical hardware from runaway without requiring operator intervention. Calibrated to an accuracy of ±0.5 °C, the instrumentation incorporates drift compensation to maintain trend analysis over a 25-year operational lifetime and a mean time between failures of 200,000 hours.
