Vibration Sensor Network for Equipment Health

The vibration sensor network is an array of 50 microelectromechanical systems accelerometers mounted directly to rotating and reciprocating machinery to identify bearing wear, imbalance, and structural looseness. Weighing 2 kg and consuming 5 W of power, the instrumentation samples at 20 kHz and employs fast Fourier transform spectral analysis to isolate mechanical fault signatures. Unshielded lunar radiation necessitates radiation-tolerant analog-to-digital converters to prevent signal degradation and component failure, enabling continuous baseline trending over a 20-year operational lifetime and a 200,000-hour mean time between failures.
