Operating Counter

Per-Equipment Operating Counter (Hours, Cycles)

The per-equipment operating counter is a dedicated monitoring assembly that records cumulative runtime hours, mechanical cycles, and travel distance to track asset degradation within the Lunar Ark infrastructure. Operating on the lunar surface demands unbroken tracking integrity across century-long missions without terrestrial servicing, where radiation-induced bit flips threaten persistent memory. To maintain logging accuracy across 100-year lifespans, the unit utilizes tamper-evident MRAM storage cross-checked against telemetry feeds, providing five independent tracking channels per monitored subsystem. Drawing 0.5 W of power, each counter achieves a mean time between failures of 500,000 hours under continuous service.
