This 80 kg dimensional quality-control suite comprises 20 measurement tools—including digital calipers, micrometers, and a robotic coordinate-measuring machine with a touch probe—to verify fabricated components during lunar manufacturing. Drawing 100 W of power, the coordinate-measuring machine achieves an inspection accuracy of 2 µm to enforce per-part geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements. Metrology hardware must sustain this precision across a 20-year service life and a 30,000-hour mean time between failures without access to terrestrial calibration infrastructure. To counteract long-mission calibration drift, the system integrates dedicated onboard reference standards and automated routines to maintain dimensional verification in isolated settlement operations.
