Principles

- ▸Extended bonnet design keeps valve stem packing above cryogenic temperature
- ▸Pneumatic or electric actuation enables remote autonomous operation
- ▸Metal-to-metal seats provide reliable shut-off at cryogenic temperatures

Lunar considerations
- ▸Valve materials must resist hydrogen embrittlement at cryogenic temperatures
- ▸Seal materials limited to metal seals and select polymers (PCTFE) at -196C
- ▸Actuator must function reliably over thousands of cycles spanning decades
