Operating within a constrained lunar energy budget, the system relies on high-efficiency, spectrally tunable emitters that activate primarily during maintenance windows, human occupancy, or optical robotic inspections to minimize power draw. Because the Lunar Ark requires a 100-year operational lifetime, the design must accommodate routine component replacement, as standard solid-state lighting modules offer an operational lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours. Independently powered emergency luminaires further ensure basic interior visibility during primary habitat power faults.
