The Ark team should preserve this case as a benchmark for planetary-defense protocols: ingest Torino Scale thresholds, update rules, and observation-to-decision timelines into lunar emergency planning; monitor near-Earth object tracking systems for objects with similar size ranges; and model how a transient 1.2% risk can fall to 0.001% within weeks under intensive follow-up.[1][3] If lunar habitation ever faces a genuine impact threat, the operational standard should be this same rapid, evidence-driven reclassification workflow.[1][4]
