The Ark should track optical terminal mass, power draw, pointing accuracy, and ground-station requirements, then prioritize research into compact laser comms for lunar orbit, Earth-Moon relay nodes, and archival uplink/downlink paths; the strongest near-term integration target is a hybrid radio-plus-laser communications architecture to reduce single-point failure risk.[2][10][12][13]
