Its stated science goals include mapping lunar inner structure, mineral and elemental composition, magnetic and electric fields, heat flow, gravity, dust, radiation, and—most critically—directly confirming the presence and source of water ice and volatiles in permanently shadowed regions; this is high-value reconnaissance for ISRU, shielding strategies, thermal design, and site selection for future bases.
Ark priority is to monitor launch timing, landing success, ice-detection results, and any instrument data on radiation, dust adhesion, and surface mobility; the team should integrate these findings into south-pole settlement models, resource forecasts, and contingency plans for power, excavation, and life-support resilience.
